I recently had a bit of success that I had not experienced before in my online business. I currently own about a 100 or so domains. Some I use, some I have plans to use, and then there are some others that sounded like a good idea, but I have no plans for.

About 2 months ago I was contact by someone interested in one of my domains. The first offer was a reasonable offer, say mid $xxx, but not something I was interested in selling the domain for.

About a week later an offer came for about double the original followed by one about double that. Now we are near very low $x,xxx. I did not reply to these. About a month later I emailed back and said I would take something about 25% higher than the last offer and the buyer accepted. After about two days the transfer was complete.

Now I understand that low $x,xxx is not a great success in the online world, but for something that I had only paid reg fee, it was a great success for me.

Have you had any success stories selling domain names?

Looking for suggestions from Google on how to make your website rank better? Wondering how Google thinks you should do it?

Then I have two suggestions for you. The first one is to check out the webmaster seciton on the google support page. It offers suggestions from the Google Team on what they believe your site structure should look like as well as many other tips. You can find this information at the Google Help Page.

If you prefer to set back and relax while getting suggestions from the Google Team then check out the Google Webmaster Help section on YouTube. It has many videos from Google Engineer Matt Cutts as well as other Googlers sharing information, commenting on other webmasters questions and more.

Check them out and let me know what you think.

Are you using social sites like digg, delicious, twitter and other to increase traffic to your site? ShoeMoney recently wrote an article about twitter saying that after using Twitter for one year he received 25,000 visits direct from twitter.

Now of course Shoemoney is a SEO / Web Marketing Hero, how does that affect a SEOLoser like myself. I do not currently have a site that even gets 25,000 visits per month. Well, on a smaller scale Twitter and the other social network sites are very helpful in bringing traffic to your sites. I launched the Twitter account for this site on May 5th, and I am currently getting about 6 visits per day from Twitter and the rest of the Twittosphere. If that pace continues and say that goes to 60 within a couple of months, or 4-500 visits per day in a year, that is a nice extra traffic boost for me.

If you have not used this services to attempt to drive traffic to your site give it a try. If you have, let us know the results.

    Thanks for reading.

I have had two small successes with my websites. Currently I have a 3 or 4 websites making a few(Less than 5) hundred a month.

At one point I had a forum, which I still have, which was doing over 1000 visits per day. It lasted about six weeks and was gone, back to the 2-300 visits per month it gets now. Not a very profitable site, but still something I am glad to have.

I registered an expired domain that for 6 weeks received about 800 visits per day, mostly from Yahoo. The previous owner of the domain seemed to use some black hat techniques that paid off for a short time for me. After the 6 weeks, it was down to 14 mostly type in visits a day. I have tried to get the website un-banned with emails to yahoo and resubmissions with no luck. A very profitable 6 weeks is all that I received out of this site, but it was still the best earning two months that I have had with a site.

Have you had any past successes that you can share? Please comment.
